Ayutthaya was the ancient capital of Siam from 1300 to 1700: at that time was a prosperous city, full of temples built by various rulers that followed until it becomes one of the most beautiful cities in the Southeast Asia and one of the most populated with about one million inhabitants. The ruins are impressive and of great historical interest and a glimpse of what must have been a good show for those centuries: everywhere towers rise Khmer style, with temples reached by climbing steep steps. Among the remains is also a reclining Buddha in size even higher than that of Wat Pho in Bangkok.
Useful Information: To reach Ayutthaya from Bangkok you can use the train from Dong Muang (about 1 hour and a half) or the Mo Chit bus that runs every 20 minutes. Once on site, the advice is to take the ferry to the island, then rent a bike or a scooter.
