The MoMA is located at 11 West 53rd Street, between Fifth Avenue and Sixth Avenue. He had an extraordinary importance for the development of modern art and is considered one of the leading museums of modern art in the world.

The museum’s collection offers an unparalleled overview of modern and contemporary art world and includes works of architecture and design, drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs, screen prints, photographs, films and multimedia works.

The library and archives of the MoMa collection of more than 300,000 books and periodicals, as well as personal records of more than 70,000 artists. The building that houses the MoMa has undergone substantial renovation and modernization of 21 May 2002 20 November 2004 The building was redesigned by the Japanese architect Yoshio Taniguchi. During the work, from June 2002 to September 2004, part of the permanent collection of the museum was temporarily exposed to the public in what was dubbed MoMA QNS, a former nail factory and hardware of the Swingline, which is located in Long Island City in the neighborhood of the Queens.

The renovation work has almost doubled environments available procuring almost 58,000 m² of new space. The Peggy and David Rockefeller Building on the western side houses the main exhibition galleries, while The Lewis B. and Dorothy Cullman Education and Research Building on the eastern side welcomes rooms for conferences, concerts, workshops for art teachers, the library museum and archives. Between the two buildings is located, also expanded the ‘Abby Aldrich Rockefeller Sculpture Garden, where there are two sculptures of Richard Serra.
