This small temple is best known for hosting the largest solid gold statue in the world. 3 meters high and weighing more than 5 tons, the statue depicts the Buddha received enlightenment while and is among the most revered in the country. According to legend, the statue dates back to the Ayutthaya period and was brought to Bangkok as a result of the invasion of Burma.
Practical information: The temple is open from 9 to 17 and the entrance fee is 20 baht.
